“Hidden Era” – Narrative Feature 78 min color is a cinematic exploration set against the vibrant tapestry of Maputo, a city pulsating with the rhythms of reggae and the echoes of societal change. At its core, the film delves into the compelling narrative of Rastafari artist Phambi, a father on a relentless quest to secure his son’s education, navigating the perilous waters of school expulsions and payment delays. Phambi’s artistic journey becomes a conduit for exploring the intersecting lives of bold feminist activists Paula and Ednora, who, in their pursuit of emancipation, courageously embrace vulnerability as nude models for his artwork. The film’s canvas extends beyond the artistic process, weaving a tapestry of reggae beats, Rastafarianism, and the hidden protests of concealed women in Matola and Maputo. As the story unfolds, it uncovers the intricate dynamics of survival and challenges societal norms, shining a spotlight on the transformative power of resilience in the face of adversity.
